Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

1. The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is seeking information on the person who abandoned 11 dogs at the gate of Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary on Dec. 22. The dogs — some of whom were puppies — were found in two crates at the location on New Road. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Animal Control Deputy Caroline Sewell at (843) 202-1700. (WYFF 4)
2. Janae Brown, 12, has been missing from her foster care home in West Ashley since Monday. Charleston police ask the community to be on the lookout for Brown, who was reported to be last seen wearing a jean jacket, gray hoodie with the word "Chill," black pants, and vans sneakers. 3. A man was found dead at a north Charleston motel early yesterday (Dec. 28) morning. North Charleston Police responded to a report of a gunshot at Stayover Lodge on McMillan Avenue around 1:06 a.m. where the man was pronounced dead on the scene. The investigation is ongoing. (Live 5 News WCSC)
