Man Facing Drug, Weapons Charges Following Downtown Search

Charleston Police confiscated drugs and a stolen handgun from an Adams Run man during the search of a downtown apartment.

A 23-year-old man from Adams Run faces several drug- and weapons-related charges after Charleston Police confiscated drugs and a stolen handgun from him during the search of a downtown apartment.

Harvey Ricardo Wiggins, 23, of Laurie Road, is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within close proximity of a school, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, distribution of a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance within close proximity of a school, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen handgun, according to a Charleston Police Department statement.

Police charged Wiggins after executing a search warrant at 20 Magazine St., Apt. D on Thursday. In addition to the stolen handgun, they also allegedly recovered 186 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of cocaine and $300 in cash, according to the statement.

Wiggins is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
