With deep roots at the College of Charleston and CCSD, she emphasizes relationship-building, early childhood expertise, and nurturing, developmentally appropriate classrooms that support every child and family in the Midland Park community.
   

2. Lowcountry organization receives $70K grant, helping to strengthen youth programs (live5news.com) — Lowcountry Youth Services in North Charleston just received a $70,000 grant to expand its mentoring programs for local boys and girls. The funding will grow college and career prep, leadership training, and new STEM opportunities for teens across the tri-county area, while deepening partnerships with area schools that rely on the group’s evidence-based curricula.
   

3. MUSC and sea island communities celebrate new healthcare facility with ER and outpatient services (counton2.com) — A new MUSC Health emergency and outpatient facility is opening in Charleston County’s sea islands, giving residents 24/7 ER access much closer to home. The Kiawah Partners Pavilion includes a helipad, imaging, lab services, and multiple outpatient specialties, easing long travel times for Seabrook, Kiawah, and nearby rural communities when it begins serving patients on December 18.
   

4. Joseph P. Riley Jr. to release memoir 'Windows on Washington Square' January 2026 (abcnews4.com) — Charleston’s longtime former mayor Joe Riley is releasing a memoir in January 2026 that revisits four decades of shaping the city, from Waterfront Park to King Street’s revival. The book promises behind-the-scenes stories on urban design, affordable housing efforts, and navigating crises like Hurricane Hugo and the Mother Emanuel tragedy, all through a distinctly Charleston lens.
   

5. Stingrays edge Swamp Rabbits 4-3 in OT as Rodzinski scores 55 seconds into extra time (abcnews4.com) — Charleston-area hockey fans saw a thriller at the North Charleston Coliseum as the South Carolina Stingrays edged the Greenville Swamp Rabbits 4–3 in overtime after a last-second equalizer. The team now hits the road in Jacksonville before returning home Sunday afternoon to host the Savannah Ghost Pirates back in North Charleston.
