Community invited to honor lives lost to homicide at annual candlelight service (abcnews4.com) — A candlelight vigil in Charleston on Friday invites families and neighbors to honor loved ones lost to homicide at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Organizers hope the 6:30 p.m. service, centered on “solidarity,” will comfort survivors and the wider community, who are encouraged to bring unframed photos for a Tree of Remembrance.
   

2. Educator of the Month: Teacher and support specialist David Bonezzi (postandcourier.com) — A longtime Charleston County educator is being celebrated for his work supporting teachers and students at Memminger Elementary, where a partnership with the College of Charleston helps shape instruction. David Bonezzi, a former Teacher of the Year finalist, now coaches teachers, leads small groups, and focuses on making public schools a welcoming, life-changing place for every child.
   

3. Charleston Water System sends lead pipe letters: What residents need to know (live5news.com) — If you get a letter from Charleston Water System about lead pipes, it’s a routine federal notice, not a sign your tap water is unsafe. The utility treats water with orthophosphate, offers free lead testing, and plans to replace thousands of lead service lines over the next decade, starting with about 1,000 next year.
   

4. Fairy House Day set for Jan. 24 (postandcourier.com) — Families can head to Mount Pleasant’s Palmetto Islands County Park on Jan. 24 for Fairy House Day, hosted by Charleston County Parks and the Charleston County Public Library. Kids build tiny nature-based houses, enjoy crafts, music, story time, and more, with registration just $7 per person and park admission included.
   

5. Affidavit shows more details in case of CofC officer charged with misconduct (live5news.com) — Charleston authorities have released an affidavit detailing allegations against a College of Charleston police officer accused of misconduct involving an intoxicated woman he escorted home from downtown. Investigators say video and witness accounts show the officer turning off his body camera, entering the woman’s residence, and engaging in non-consensual contact before she was taken to MUSC for examination. He was arrested, charged, and later released on bond.
