Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:
- The Charleston County School District will be discussing a policy proposal to set "guard rails" around outside counsel. The proposal looks like a direct response to the departure of the district's staff attorney back in December. When Mercedes Pinckney-Reese left, she wrote a letter to the school board claiming she was replaced by outside counsels who proceeded to funnel Charleston County School District cases to their own law firms. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- The Charleston Wine Festivals is hosting an exciting event for fans of this adult beverage. The fourth annual Charleston Winter Wine Festival will be held at Festival Hall on Jan. 28. The festival will feature over 50 wine selections, as well as mimosas, seltzers, and beers. There are two sessions: one at 12:00 p.m. and another at 6:00 p.m. (Holy City Sinner)
- If you're craving something delicious to eat, you won't want to miss Charleston Restaurant week. The event will begin Jan. 12 and conclude on Jan. 22. Some of the restaurants involved will offer special menus and deals only available at that time. There are various restaurants throughout the area who are participating, including a bunch of your local favorites which are listed at the link. (WCBD News 2)
