Sheriff Investigating Teacher, Student Relationship at West Ashley HS

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report that a teacher at West Ashley High School is involved in a sexual relationship with a student

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office confirmed Thursday that a teacher at West Ashley High School is the subject of an investigation following a report that the teacher is involved in a sexual relationship with a student.

The teacher has not been identified, and a CCSO statement asserts that the student involved is 18 and the relationship appears to be consensual.

The relationship is believed to have been ongoing for several months, and was brought to the attention of CCSO investigators by the Charleston Police Department, according to the statement.

No charges have been filed as of Thursday, but the investigation is continuing.

Charleston County School District spokesperson Jason Sakran said the teacher no longer works at the school.
