Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

  1. The Charleston Animal Society is actively searching for a stolen pot-belly pig. Piggy Stardust, a rescue animal, was stolen from the organization's barn. There is a $5,000 reward being offered for information that leads to an arrest. The incident is being investigated by the North Charleston Police Department. (ABC NEWS 4)
  2. The Charleston Police Department reports that Savannah Highway has been reopened after downed power lines forced a road closure. The incident was caused by a crash that occurred Monday afternoon shortly before 3:00 p.m. The power lines were cleared by responding officers. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  3. The North Charleston Police Department reports that a man was arrested on Friday for attempting to steal steaks. Jervey Simmons, Sr, 59 years old, allegedly attempted to steal the items from a Food Lion along Dorchester Road. Simmons threatened to stab a store employee while leaving the Food Lion. He is being held at the Charleston County Jail on a $50,000 bond. (WCBD News 2)
