- Police are searching for a vehicle that may be connected to a string of trailer thefts. Two incidents took place near each other in the Awendaw area. A 31-foot Tundra travel trailer on Doar Road was stolen around Dec. 22. A 2006 Southern Industries dump trailer also disappeared from a home on Raw Dew Drive on Jan. 8. Police are looking for a dark-colored pick-up truck that was witnessed at both scenes. (Abccolumbia.com)
- Employment numbers in Charleston and North Charleston increased by over 6% in the last year – the second-highest increase in the country. The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce estimated that by 2026, there would be 36,00 new jobs. Officials credit these numbers to increased investment in the education and training of students for future professions. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- A pedestrian who used a wheelchair was hit and killed in Charleston on Jan. 3. Karen Simmons was struck by a motorist on East Bay Street between Reid and South. Earlier in the week, the City of Charleston sent a letter to the South Carolina Department of Transportation for a review of the roadway and possible safety improvements.
