Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:
- 23-year-old David Curtis White of North Charleston pleaded guilty to the sexual exploitation of a minor and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. White, posing as a minor, had corresponded sexually with an 11-year-old child through the chat site Omegle and over the Snapchat app. Through the investigation, which also included the FBI, authorities found extensive child pornography on White's devices. (WCBD News 2)
- On Dec. 12, community members are invited to participate in a holiday litter sweep with the South Carolina Aquarium, IOP Cleanup Crew, and Beach Santa. The clean-up will occur from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Beach Santa will collect Christmas letters before leaving for the day. (Island Eye News)
- Charleston Mayor, John Tecklenburg, led a tree-lighting ceremony in Marion Square on Sunday Night. News 2's Rob Fowler also attended the ceremony and prepared the crowd. The publication has also prepared an archive of photographs from the event. (WCBD News 2)
