Columbia Police Charge 4 Teens in Vehicle Break-in

Four teens — ages 17 to 19 — face charges of damaging/tampering with a vehicle and petit/simple larceny.

Columbia Police arrested four teens accused of breaking into a car and stealing several electronic items.

Khamori Dayvelle Scott, 17; Jasmine Istey Richardson, 19; Chelsea Lasha Dennis, 19; and Brandon Terrell Jenkins, 17, were all charged with damaging/tampering with a vehicle and petit/simple larceny.

Three of the four suspects face an additional charge. Scott is also charged with failure to stop on police command and Richardson is charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol. Jenkins faces a charged possession of a stolen vehicle.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sept. 21, the teens allegedly smashed a window of a car that was parked on the 700 block of Pavilion Street and stole several items including an iPod, police said.

Interim Police Chief Ruben Santiago said in a release, “We always tell people to lock their doors and hide their valuables. In this case, to our knowledge the doors were secured. Officers have increased patrols where these crimes are occurring.”

All four suspects were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
