RCSD: Man Shot at Garners Ferry Road Apartment Complex
The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. at the Austin Woods Apartments at 7648 Garners Ferry Road.
A man was transported to a local hospital after he was shot at an apartment complex on Garners Ferry Road Tuesday night, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. at the Austin Woods Apartments at 7648 Garners Ferry Road.
The man and a female passenger were in a car when an unidentified male approached the car and pulled out a gun, sheriff's department spokesman Sgt. Curtis Wilson said.
As the suspect approached the passenger side of the vehicle, the man tried to drive away. The female passenger jumped out of the car and fled the area, Wilson said.
The suspect demanded that the man open the door. The victim tried to drive away and the suspect fired multiple shots, striking the man in the lower body.
The man drove himself home and called 911. He was transported to Palmetto Richland for treatment. His condition is unknown.
Wilson said the victim has not been cooperative with investigators. The incident remains under investigation.
