Hello, Easley, today is Sunday, August 11. There’s lots to do and see this week in Easley and the surrounding area.

Looking for work or know someone who is? Head to Tri-County Technical College’s Pendleton Campus Tuesday morning. 

Tri-County Technical College’s Corporate & Community Education Division will hold a Job Fair and Training Expo for Anderson, Oconee and Pickens county residents Tuesday, August 13.  It will be held 9 a.m. - noon at the Pendleton Campus in the Industrial & Business Development Center.

Participants will be given the opportunity to meet and interview with area employers and/or find out if they are candidates for training.  The event is sponsored by Tri-County Technical College and the local SC Works Centers/Satellite locations.

According event organizers, they are reaching out to unemployed and underemployed individuals.  “This is a great opportunity for them to talk with potential employers about their futures,” said Rick Cothran, dean of Tri-County’s Corporate & Community Education Division. “In addition, career and training opportunity information will be available in the following areas:  Welding, CNC, Certified Production Technician, Microsoft and CompTIA certified Computer Technicians, Commercial Truck Driving, Heavy Equipment Operation and Healthcare certifications.”

The Easley Farmers Market will hold their Tuesday hours from 5pm – 8pm and their Saturday hours from 8am – noon in front of City Hall.

Stop by and pick up your fresh fruits and veggies, baked goods, hot sauces and salsas, hot meals and more.

Easley’s Old Market Square will host a Back-to-School Water Blast Saturday, August 17 from noon to 4pm.

The event, organized by Dunburk’s Premier Events and sponsored by The Gilstrap Family Dealerships, will feature huge inflatable water rides, volleyball, sand boxes and music.

Rides are ticketed. Each ride is 1 ticket.

Ticket Prices are $1 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5 or you can purchase an unlimited ride wristband for $10.

Upstate School Spirit and a number of other Easley businesses are teaming up for a Back-to-School Block Party 11am – 4pm Saturday at 1035 South Pendleton Street.

The party is free.

Vendors include Coyote Coffee, Pure Purse Obsession, Skin’s, Subway,  The UPS Store, Lollypop Lady,  Subway,  Butterfly Ministry for Girls, Paper Party Place,  Sport Clips, Easley Patch,  Origami Owl,  DJ N-Fa-Miss, the Easley Police Department and Easley Fire Department.

The party will feature door prizes, face painting, balloons, games, Child ID kits, fire truck, a police car and more.

Local booster clubs, football players, cheerleaders, beauty queens and bands will make special appearances during the block party.

Sport Clips will be spray-painting hair during the event. There will also be a Corn Hole competition.  

In Pickens, New Dixie Storm will play at the amphitheater on W. Main Street from 6-9pm Saturday, August 17.
