Easley High School will kick off the football season with its Jamboree tonight. Admission is $5.

Easley will play Berea at 8:45pm in the Jamboree.

Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming” continues at the Foothills Playhouse. This musical features bluegrass gospel songs delivered by the Sanders Family, characters many theater-lovers will be familiar with from “Smoke on the Mountain” and “A Sanders Family Christmas.”

Did you know the theatre is now offering rush tickets? Come to the theatre with cash in hand 15 minutes before the show any night and get special reserved seating in the mezzanine area of the theatre for just $10 per ticket.

Due to predicted cool weather Saturday, the Back to School Water Blast slated for Saturday in Old Market Square has been rescheduled.

It will now be held noon – 4pm Saturday, August 31.

The Easley Farmers Market will be open, weather permitting, from 8am - noon in front of City Hall. Can't make it Saturday? Visit the market on Tuesdays from 5pm - 8pm! Tuesday market hours will be held until August 27.

The Hagood Mill in Pickens hosts a “Third Saturday” program each month. This month's event is the “Rolling Waterwheel Gospel Revue” concert  on Saturday, August 17. Starting at 12:00 and continuing until 3:00 on the outdoor stage, the concert will feature the sounds of “Dave Snyder & Last Road,” one of the region’s top bluegrass groups.

This free concert will also feature “Stand Alone Story,” the “Hagood Harpists,” a group that meets and performs at the mill on the second Saturday of each month, and a special appearance by Myrtle Hall Smith (of the Billy Graham Crusades).

The Hagood Mill hosts a variety of folklife and traditional arts demonstrations each month, including blacksmithing, bowl-digging, flintknapping, chair-caning, moonshining, broom-making, basket-making, pottery, quilting, spinning, knitting, weaving, woodcarving, open-hearth cooking, metal-smithing, leather-working and more!  There promises to be lots to do and lots of fun!

MARYS House helps victims of domestic violence escape their abusers and begin new lives. We can't say enough about what a wonderful organization they are. Saturday offers a chance to help them continue to help others, by shopping at the organization's Bag Sale.

Hosted by Geer Memorial Baptist Church in Easley, the bag sale will be held from 10am – 3pm, Saturday, August 17.

The sale will feature women's, men's and children's clothing, all you can fit into a $10 bag or a $20 bag.

All proceeds from the bag sale will go to support MARYS House, a non-profit faith-based organization providing emergency shelter, services and spiritual guidance to victims of domestic violence. Visit www.maryshouse.com for more information. For questions about the sale, call 306-2777.

Upstate School Spirit and a number of other Easley businesses are teaming up for a Back-to-School Block Party 11am – 4pm Saturday at 1035 South Pendleton Street.

The party is free.

Vendors include Coyote Coffee, Pure Purse Obsession, Skin’s, Subway,  The UPS Store, Lollypop Lady,  Subway,  Butterfly Ministry for Girls, Paper Party Place,  Sport Clips, Easley Patch,  Origami Owl,  DJ N-Fa-Miss, the Easley Police Department and Easley Fire Department.

The party will feature door prizes, face painting, balloons, games, Child ID kits, fire truck, a police car and more.

Local booster clubs, football players, cheerleaders, beauty queens and bands will make special appearances during the block party.

Sport Clips will be spray-painting hair during the event. There will also be a Corn Hole competition. 

A fundraiser for the Pickens Senior Center will be held Saturday from 5pm - 8pm at the center, located at 129 Schoolhouse Road, Pickens. 

For $8, you'll be a plate with BBQ and bun, beans, slaw and a drink. Desserts are $1. The fundraiser will also include entertainment and a silent auction. All proceeds go toward renovating the Senior Center.
