Man Arrested After False Shooting Claims Near SC School: Police
The man is accused of causing panic after jumping the fence at Legacy Early College and saying he was being shot at, Greenville police say.
GREENVILLE, SC — A man has been arrested in Greenville after police say he caused a panic by jumping a school fence during recess and telling faculty and students he had been shot at, according to the Greenville Police Department.
The incident occurred at Legacy Early College, authorities said.
As students and staff ran back inside the school, the man, who has not been identified, also got into the school. When staff discovered he was inside, he was separated from students, police said.

Authorities interviewed the suspect and arrested him. He is accused of disturbing school and filing a false police report. Officers determined there was no active shooter and that a shooting had not occurred inside the school, according to police.
During the investigation, the school went into lockdown and roadways around the school were closed, Greenville Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Johnathan Bragg told Patch.

A video taken by a FOX Carolina anchor shows a long line of police cars near the school Monday morning.
The students who are at the school are attending summer school, Bragg said.
