New Mauldin soccer stadium on track for 2026 season (wspa.com) β€” A new 6,400-seat soccer stadium at BridgeWay Station in Mauldin is on schedule to become the permanent home of Greenville Triumph and Greenville Liberty by mid-2026. Backed in part by $13.5 million from Greenville Pro Soccer, the venue aims to anchor a year-round destination with games, concerts, and new amenities for fans from Greenville, Mauldin, Simpsonville, and across the Upstate.

2. 2025 Rewind: City of Greenville (greenvillejournal.com) β€” Major changes are coming out of a busy 2025 in Greenville, from Unity Park’s new Wong Honor Tower and Mayberry Park to a full renovation of City Hall and new council chambers. City leaders also advanced homelessness initiatives, trail and wheelsports projects, and several big north-end developments that will shape how you work, play, and get around town in the coming years.

From kennel to home: Families adopt and welcome furry friends for the holidays (wyff4.com) β€” Greenville Humane Society wrapped up a huge December, with 255 pets adopted and more than 200 visitors on Christmas Eve, and will reopen Saturday after a brief holiday closure. Staff and volunteers say many animals, like long-term resident Fern and kitten Marigold, are finally finding homes, while plenty of dogs and cats are still waiting for local families to foster, adopt, or volunteer.

Uber launches β€˜women preference' rides in Greenville (wspa.com) β€” Women in Greenville can now use Uber’s new Women Preferences feature to increase their chances of being matched with women drivers, including for teen accounts. The option, part of a national pilot expansion, aims to boost comfort and safety, and local riders are already weighing in on how it could change their late-night and everyday trips.

Jewish WWII Pilot Finally Brought To Kevuras Yisroel, 80 Years After Being Shot Down (theyeshivaworld.com) β€” A Jewish American WWII pilot with deep ties to Greenville was finally laid to rest in the city, 80 years after being shot down over China. Lt. Morton Sher, who grew up and worshipped in Greenville, was buried in a long-empty family plot after his remains were identified through renewed U.S. recovery efforts and DNA testing.
