• Twelve Laurens County Residents Take Oath of Enlistment at Courthouse Ceremony (whosonthemove.com) — Twelve young men and women from Laurens County recently took the U.S. Army Oath of Enlistment in a public ceremony at the Laurens County Courthouse. Family, local veterans, and county leaders packed the room to cheer them on, then toured the Veterans Hall of Heroes, underscoring the county’s deep tradition of honoring military service and community support.
   

• USC student one of two killed in crash day after her birthday, officials say (thestate.com) — A deadly head-on collision on I-385 in Laurens County killed 20-year-old USC student Adriana Torres-Lopez of Simpsonville and a North Carolina driver, according to the county coroner. The Dec. 11 crash adds to a troubling trend, with at least 19 people killed in Laurens County wrecks so far in 2025, state safety officials report.
