3 Die in Lexington County Weekend Wrecks

A total of 38 people have died on Lexington County roads since the beginning of 2012.

The number of people who died on Lexington County roads this year rose to 38 after three people died in wrecks over the weekend, according to the S.C. Department of Public Safety.

Statewide, nine people died on South Carolina highways between 6 p.m. Friday and midnight Sunday, according to the Department of Public Safety. 

The nine deaths include four motorcyclists and five vehicle occupants. One was not wearing a seatbelt.

So far in 2012, 500 people have died on South Carolina highways, according to the Department of Public Safety. The total number of deaths for 2011 was 525.
