Dutch Fork finishes runner-up in the American Bracket of the Lexington Roundball Classic (wltx.com) — Lexington basketball fans just saw a thriller at Lexington High School, where Dutch Fork fell 63-59 to North Augusta in the American Bracket final of the Lexington Roundball Classic. The Silver Foxes erased a 12-point deficit before falling late, with Dutch Fork’s Justus Bell and Samajae Govan earning all-tournament honors.

2. Leesville man killed after veering off the road, striking a tree Dec. 27 (lexingtonchronicle.com) — A 44-year-old Leesville man, Kai Lin Earl Maroney, died late Dec. 27 after his vehicle left Fairview Road in Leesville and struck a tree, according to the Lexington County Coroner. He was wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene, and both the coroner’s office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the Lexington County crash.

From beloved restaurants to shops, these Columbia area businesses closed in 2025 (thestate.com) — Several familiar Lexington spots shut their doors in 2025, including Wayback Burgers on Sunset Boulevard, Lexington Tap House on Charter Oak Road, and RF’s Corner Grill on West Main. Some spaces are already being reimagined, like the former Tap House, now Charter 803 Bar & Grill, while others leave noticeable gaps in the local dining scene.
