Obituary: Ann D. Raines

Funeral service for Ann D. Raines, 87, of Lexington, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Sandy Level Baptist Church, 408 Blythewood Rd., Blythewood, SC. Officiating will be Rev. Alfred Lawson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will have refreshments in the church fellowship hall following the graveside service.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia.

Mrs. Raines, beloved wife of the late George Bunch Raines, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012. Born in West Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Douglas, Sr. and Sophia Evetta Holly. She lived a Christ-like life through her actions, kind words and unconditional love.

Surviving are her daughters, Maria Ann Raines Threet (Larry) of Lexington and Kathy Sue Raines Graham (Jeffrey) of Greensboro, NC; sons, George Daniel Raines (Dorothy Cooper) of Sandy Run and Preston Robert Raines (Katherine W. ) of Gaston; grandchildren, Alicia Odham, Valerie Stanley, Emily Driggers, Lauren Noel, Susan Raines, Donna Raines, Kimberly Eargle, Beth Peters and Carly Graham; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Vadis Powell, Priscilla Lynn and Rachel Hill all of West Columbia; brothers, Robert Douglas, Jr. and David Douglas all of West Columbia.
