Obituary: Arlene Hanson Elliott

CAYCE: Funeral service for Arlene Hanson Elliott, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Glenn Boland. Entombment will be in Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Honorary pallbearers will be the Augsburgh Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 1000 B Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29169, or the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.

Ms. Elliott passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012. Born in Sisseton, SD, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Hanson and Erma Wilson Hanson. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church and was retired from SC Department of Health and Environmental Control. Ms. Elliott was a member of the SC Pubic Health Association and an honorary member of the Water and Pollution Control Association.

Survivors include: her daughter, Dianne Putnam of Hampstead, NC; sisters, Evelyn Mueller of Minnesota and Wilma Kaven of South Dakota; brother, James Hanson of Oregon; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was also survived by a brother-in-law, Roland Odland, and a large and loving extended family. Ms. Elliott was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Elliott, two grandsons, and a sister, Marilyn Odland.
