WEST COLUMBIA - A graveside service for David Russell Whaley, 51, will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 2 pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. Mr. Whaley passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012.
Born in Mullins, SC, he was the son of James Lavern Whaley, Sr. and Mary Ann Collins Whaley. He loved to hunt and fish and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Surviving are his mother, Mary Ann Collins Whaley of West Columbia; father and stepmother, James Lavern Whaley, Sr. and Joyce C. Whaley of West Columbia; brother, James L. (Laura) Whaley of Kansas City, MO; son, Dustin S. Whaley of West Columbia; sister, Alicia (Randall) Taylor of West Columbia and nieces, Sunni Haught and Amber Marthers, both of West Columbia.
