WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Dorothy Brady Whitfield, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013, in Celestial Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 3111 Delree St., West Columbia, SC 29169. Rev. Alice Odell will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family.
Mrs. Whitfield, widow of Elmer Ray Whitfield, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013. Born in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late George W. Brady and Nola Carnes Brady. She was a member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia, and had retired from Belk Department Store. Mrs. Whitfield was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving is her daughter, Sandra Andrews (Ed) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, John Whitfield (Tara) of Columbia; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Whitfield was preceded in death by sisters, Charlotte Chandler, Jean Britt, Frank O'Dell and Josephine Ackerson; also a brother, Bobby Joe Brady. The family would like to thank the staff of Agape Senior Care and special thanks to Linda Guess, her Hospice CNA.
