Obituary: Thomas Theodore Dawson Jr.

WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral services for Thomas T. Dawson, Jr., 80, of West Columbia, will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Pastor Dwight Wessinger. Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Dawson, beloved husband of Margie Padgett Dawson, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012. Born in West Columbia, he was the son of the late Thomas Theodore Dawson, Sr. and Gertrude Lynch Dawson. He was a lifetime area resident and a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church and Woodmen of the World. He retired from Savannah River Plant. He was also a member of the Plumbers and Steamer Fitters Association. He was an avid Gamecock Fan and loved fishing, hunting and spending weekends at his lake house.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Margie Dawson of West Columbia; sons, Thomas T. Dawson III of West Columbia and Brad A. Dawson (Deborah) of Columbia; daughter, Sherry Jones (John) of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Margaret Jumper (Craig) and Emily White both of West Columbia; five grandchildren, Tom Dawson, Chris Dawson, Amber Dawson, Michelle Lee and Hannah Jones and three great-grandchildren, Vera Dawson, Brittany Mitchell and Lauren Mitchell.
