
WEST COLUMBIA - A memorial service for William Cullen Poole, 84, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2012, at Brookland United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Irmo Chapel is assisting the family. Mr. Poole died Friday, August, 31, 2012.
Born April 9, 1928 in Salley, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Cullen and Mary Livingston Poole. He was the husband of Juanita Ford Poole. Mr. Poole was a lifetime member of the Sinclair Masonic Lodge, West Columbia and was also a member of the Jamil Shriner's Temple where he was in the Choo -Choo Unit. He was a retired supervisor from Mt. Vernon Mills and a member of Brookland United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Juanita; daughters, Cynthia Poole (Karin Pahnke), Vanessa Key (Gene), Denise Stanley; grandchildren, Sally Lucas (Michael), Charlie Earp (Stacy), J.W. Stanley, Elizabeth Stanley; five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, James Hoyt Poole (Patsy); brothers-in-law, Mike Ford (Linda), James Hatfield (Gloria); sisters-in-law, Naomi Leonard, Norma Phillips, Pat Parker (Frank); and numerous special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Bolin and Mary Helen Hatfield and a son-in-law, Barry Stanley. Memorials may be made to Brookland United Methodist Church, 541 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 or the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. The family extends a special thank you to Palmetto Health Hospice and Dr. John Black and staff and Dr. Phillip Baldwin and staff for the care and compassion shown to our family during this time.Â
