Barbecue Fundraiser to Benefit Family of Allen Mitchell
Mitchell, a former USC quarterback, died in September.

Employees at the company where former USC quarterback Allen Mitchell used to work are selling barbecue plates to raise money for Mitchell's wife and kids.Β
Mitchell, who was one of two quarterbacks who led South Carolina to its first 10-season win in 1984 as part of the "Black Magic" Gamecocks,Β died in September at age 48 after committing suicide.Β
His former co-workers at Trane in West Columbia are holding a barbecue fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at the company's office at 111 Lott Court.

Meal tickets for $10, and must be ordered by Monday.Β
Raffle tickets will also be on sale for $5 before the event and during the event. The drawing will be at 2 p.m. the day of the event. The prizes include holiday wreaths, Trane items, gift certificates and baskets and Gamecock items.Β
