Carrigg Beats Guy for Lexington County Clerk of Court

Beth Carrigg came in with more votes than Democrat challenger Joan Waggoner Guy, according to preliminary election results.

Republican incumbent Beth Carrigg led the race for Lexington County Clerk of Court in Tuesday's election, according to preliminary results from the Lexington County Election Commission.

Carrigg came in at about 69 percent of the vote with about 97 percent of precincts reporting, beating out Democrat Joan Waggoner Guy.Β 

Carrigg has served as Clerk of Court since June 2004.Β

Most of the oustanding votes were absentee ballots, which were still being counted after midnight.Β
