Cops on Doughnut Shops Raises Money for Special Olympics

Deputies and officers will be raising money for the Special Olympics at Krispy Kreme locations.

Lexington police officers and sheriff's deputies will camp out on top of two Krispy Kreme locations this week to raise money for the Special Olympics in South Carolina.Β 

Customers who stop at the Krispy Kreme in Lexington or the one on Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce can make a donation and receive a sweet treat in return starting at noon Wednesday.Β 

Officers and deputies will be stationed at the two locations through 10 p.m. Friday.Β

The Richland County Sheriff's Department, the Columbia Police Department and the University of South Carolina Police Department will also participate at the other Krispy Kreme locations on Garner's Ferry Road and Clemson Road.

All donations will go to local Special Olympics athletes for training, equipment and travel.Β
