Deputies Arrest Second Man for Stealing $46K in Equipment Thefts
Deputies say Mark Quincy Stevens and James Richard Padgett, both of Gaston, stole parts from the equipment and sold it to a metal recycling company.
Deputies arrested a second Gaston man Wednesday who they say stole equipment worth $46,000 from a warehouse on Gardners Terrace Road near West Columbia.Â
Mark Quincy Stevens, 48, of Woodtrail Drive, Gaston, is charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and two counts of an enhanced punishment for a third-or-subsequent offense involving a property crime, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.Â

Stevens and Padgett are accused of stealing metal parts worth about $40,000 from heavy construction equipment that was stored at the warehouse on Gardners Terrace Road sometime between Dec. 17 and 24, according to the sheriff's department. Deputies say they sold the metal items for recycling at Mid-Carolina Recycling & Steel on Fairfield Road in Columbia.
They also are accused of stealing one radiator worth about $3,000 and one
hydraulic cooler worth about $3,000 from the warehouse sometime between Dec. 25 and Dec. 26, according to the sheriff's department.

Stevens was being held on Thursday, January 10, at the Lexington County
Detention Center on bail totaling $40,000.
