Deputies Investigate Series of Thefts Near Saxe Gotha Elementary

Someone broke into three vehicles and a shed in the area near the school between Sept. 11 and 12.

Deputies believe a recent series of thefts from cars and sheds near Saxe Gotha Elementary School are related, according to a Lexington County Sheriff's Department incident report.

More than $700 in shoes, tools, electronics and cologne was stolen from two vehicles and one shed on Kenneth Drive and one vehicle on Bill Williamson Court between Sept. 11 and 12, according to the report. Someone also keyed a vehicle and tried to break into a shed at another home onΒ Bill Williamson Court.Β 

The owner of a house on Kenneth Drive told a deputy that someone stole items from her three unlocked cars and an unlocked storage shed between 10 p.m. Sept. 11 and 6:30 a.m. Sept. 12, according to the report. A Hitachi air compressor was missing from the storage shed and change was missing from two of the cars.Β

The owner of a house on Bill Williamson Court also told the deputy that someone stole items from his unlocked 2000 Chevy Blazer between 2 and 8 a.m. Sept. 12, according to the report. Three bottles of cologne, a Garmin nuvi GPS, a power inverter and a pair of Nike Shock tennis shoes were missing.Β 

Another resident of Bill Williamson Court told the deputy that someone keyed her unlocked SUV and tried to break into a locked shed in the back yard, according to the report. Nothing was taken from the shed or the vehicle.

Deputies believe the incidents could be related because they occured within the same time frame and within one to two miles of each other.Β
