Donate Blood, Enter to Win $1,000 Gift Card

Blood donors who donate to the American Red Cross from October through December will be entered to win a $1,000 gift card. 

The "Give Something That Means Something" promotion gives each person who donates blood or platelets with the Red Cross a chance to win a $1,000 gift card that can be used for gas, rent, food or tickets to a concert or sporting event.

Two blood drives are scheduled in Lexington in October: 

• Oakwood Baptist Church on Oct. 11
• Walmart on Oct. 19

“Donating blood is an opportunity for people to give the most important gift of all, the ‘gift of life,’” said Ryan Corcoran, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross South Carolina Blood Services Region. “The Red Cross depends on the generosity of volunteer donors to meet the needs of patients in our area and across the country.”

The Red Cross South Carolina Blood Services Region provides lifesaving blood to patients in 54 hospitals. Approximately 500 people need to give blood or platelets each weekday to meet hospital demands.
