Featuring Dee Dee Ricks: A breast cancer survivor and motivational speaker Dee Dee Ricks, cancer survivor and motivational speaker, was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2007, an event that turned the hedge fund adviser and philanthropist into an activist for the uninsured and underinsured.
Her experience helped to inspire the HBO documentary, βThe Education of Dee Dee Ricks,β which premiered October 2011. The documentary follows the journey of a woman battling breast cancer, while raising millions of dollars to help other breast cancer patients who are without resources.
Women's Night Out is hosted by Lexington Medical Center and proceeds from the event benefit the Crystal Smith Fund, a program through the Lexington Medical Center Foundation that helps women undergoing cancer treatment purchase needed supplies.
