Laptop Stolen From SC Senate Candidate Office

District 26 Senate candidate Deedee Vaughters told The Aiken Standard that her West Columbia campaign office was broken into over the weekend.

A burglar stole a laptop computer from the West Columbia campaign office of a S.C. Senate candidate over the weekend, according to news reports.

, who is running for the District 26 seat, told The Aiken Standard that someone broke into her office on Moffatt Street, stole a Hewlett-Packard laptop, but left behind other electronics. 

"It could be politically motivated, but we're not sure," Vaughters told the paper. "They did not destroy the place. They did not vandalize the place."

Vaughters said the laptop, which was used by her campaign manager is password-protected, so she's "not worried about any information getting out there."

. She will face Democratic incumbent Nikki Setzler in the November general election.
