A retail center with boutiques and restaurants and a public green space with an amphitheater are coming to Lexington's Main Street.Â
The Town of Lexington announced Wednesday that it's purchasing a section of poperty, including the former Shireys on Main at 101 W. Main Street, the adjacent building at 103 and 105 W. Main Street and Palmetto Propane and Ice, Inc. at 111 S. Church Street and 113 S. Church Street.Â
The development, dubbed Project Icehouse by the town, is the newest project under the Vision Plan, which council passed in May 2012 and will help revitalize Lexington.

The plan will also allow for connectivity in the downtown area through a proposed 1.1-mile walking trail. The trail will provide citizens an opportunity to experience walking, jogging and nature from Main Street, S. Church Street, Virginia Hylton Park, Fort Street and Lexington United Methodist Church.Â
Town council will hold a special meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday with a public hearing and final reading on the purchase of the property. See the complete agenda attached.
