Lexington Baseball Team Ranked No. 1 in Preseason Poll
The team will play four other teams ranked in the preseason poll.

The Lexington High School baseball team is ranked No. 1 in the 2013 preseason South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association (SCBCA) AAAA poll.
Head Coach Brian Hucks, who begins his second season at Lexington, guided the Wildcats to a 27-4 overall record last spring, the Region 5-AAAA title with a 10-0 league mark and the finals of  the Lower State playoffs.
"It is an honor to be recognized by the 4-A coaches as the preseason No. 1," said Hucks, who sports a 286-109 overall record over 13 seasons. "It is a testament to the quality of the players in our program. Ultimately we recognize that the only poll that truly matters is the final poll."
Lexington plays four teams ranked in the preseason poll. The Wildcats play a pair of games against region foe and 8th-ranked South Aiken (April 2 Â on the road and April 9 at home). The Wildcats battle Mauldin (#4), Conway (#5) and Wando (#6) in the International Paper Classic held Mar. 7-10 in Georgetown, S.C.
Lexington plays A.C. Flora (#3 in AAA) twice. The Wildcats play at the A.C. Flora on Saturday, March 23 (1 p.m.) and host the Falcons on Saturday, April 13 (1 p.m.).
The Wildcats take on  Spring Valley at 5 p.m. at home on Monday, Feb. 4 in the first of four scrimmages.  Regular season play begins on Monday, March 4 when Lexington plays host to Irmo at 7 p.m.
