Lexington County Council Loser Claims Winner Was Ineligible for Race
Lexington County Council District 3 candidate Darrell Hudson says Republican winner Kent Collins didn't properly disclose personal financial information.

Lexington County Council District 3 candidate Darrell Hudson, who finished second in the race, is trying to keep Republican winner Kent Collins off council, according to a report.
Hudson asked county election officials to declare Collins ineligible for the seat, according to a report in The State. Hudson says that Collins did not follow state ethics rules on diclosing personal finances.Β
Hudson was one of four candidates in the District 3 race whom GOP leaders removed from the June 12 primary ballot for the same reason.

Collins was the only District 3 candidate who was not removed from the primary ballot, making him the automatic Republican nominee because he faced no opposition.
More than a dozenΒ other Lexington County candidates were also disqualified from the primary for not properly filing their Statement of Economic Interest forms.

The disqualified candidates βΒ including Hudson βΒ were forced to collect petition signatures to get their names on the November ballot.Β
Hudson came in at about 27 percent of the vote in Tuesday's election, while Collins got about 40 percent.
