Lexington County Holds Spare the Air Calendar Contest

The county is holding a contest for students in an effort to raise awareness about air quality issues.

Lexington County is asking students to illustrate activities that they can adopt in their lives to help keep the air clean.Β 

The county, in partnership with the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, is holding its third annual Spare the Air Calendar Contest.Β 

The contest is open to public, private and home-school students in 5th through 7th grade. Judges will consider each picture's message, content, design and degree of creativity in determining winners.Β

The winning pictures will be featured in the 2013 Spare the Air Calendar.Β 

The grand prize winner will receive a bicycle and his or her drawing featured on the cover of the calendar. The winning student's school will receive air quality alert flags, while the winning student's teacher will receive a school supply gift basket.Β

Other student winners will get a gift basket and a framed picture.

All prizes will be presented during a Lexington County Council meeting.Β
