Lexington County to Give Residents Bigger Recycling Containers
The county plans to encourage recycling by giving residents in unincorporated areas bigger recycling containers.

Lexington County residents will soon get 95-gallon roll carts for recyclable items such as glass, plastic and paper, according to a report.Β
Homeowners in unicorporated areas who already receive curbside trash collection will get the roll carts as soon as next spring, according to a report in The State. The roll carts will replace the 18-gallon recycling bins.
The recycling roll carts will be taken every two weeks instead of weekly, according to The State.

Irmo gave town residents 65-gallon recycling roll carts in July, allowing them to recycle three times as much.Β
Lexington County officials say that each ton of recycled material saves the county $37.50, according to The State. In the past year, the county has seen an increase in the amount of recycled materials collected through cubside pick up.Β
