Lexington Man Charged After Mother Finds Sexually-Explicit Messages on Daughter's Facebook

William Christopher Spivey is charged with five counts of criminal solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted dissemination of obscene material to a minor, according to the S.C. Attorney General's office.

A Lexington man was arrested recently after a mother noticed that someone left sexually-explicit messages on her 13-year-old daughter's Facebook page.Β 

William Christopher Spivey, 35, is charged with five counts of criminal solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted dissemination of obscene material to a minor, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Monday.Β 

According to arrest warrants, between July and August Spivey used the nameΒ Chris Stephens to send the girl a sexually-explicit picture of himself, as well as messages saying he wanted to perform sexual acts on her and asking her for intercourse.Β

When the girl's mother found the messages, she contacted the Richland County Sheriff's Department.Β 

Spivey turned himself in to deputies Thursday. He was released on a $25,000 bond, according to WIS, and ordered to have no contact with the victim or her family.

Spivey could face up to 65 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

Deputies are investigating whether Spivey victimized others. The sheriff's department is asking any victims to call theΒ Richland County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Unit at 803-576-3115.Β
