Lexington Man Charged With Trafficking Meth, Growing Marijuana
Deputies arrested Ray Hubert Adkins, 55, after they found marijuana plants and crystal meth at his Oron Court home near Lexington.

Officers arrested a 55-year-old man Tuesday who they say was trafficking a crystal form of methamphetamine and growing marijuana plants at his home on Oron Court near Lexington.
Ray Hubert Adkins was arrested after Narcotics Enforcement Team officers found two marijuana plants in an indoor terrarium at his house and more than 10 grams of the crystal form of meth in seven canisters, according to the sheriff's department. The meth in Adkins' house, near Smith Pond and Calks Ferry roads on Lexington's west side, was worth $1,000.Â
Officers also found $4,815 in cash, two sets of digital scales and bags that are used to package drugs for sale, according to the sheriff's department. They also found one Hi Point 9-mm handgun, one Karz 9-mm handgun, one .22-caliber handgun, one Smith & Wesson .38-caliber handgun and one Ruger 1022 rifle.

Officers seized the five firearms, the marijuana plants, the crystal meth and the cash, according to the sheriff's department.Â
A Lexington County deputy originally went to Adkins' house to serve a general sessions court bench warrant that was issued for Adkins on a charge of possessing methamphetamine, Sheriff James Metts said. He smelled the odor of marijuana and notified narcotics officers who then obtained warrants to search Adkins' house.

Adkins is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. He is charged with trafficking meth, manufacturing marijuana, simple possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon during the commission of a violent crime.Â
