Update: Coroner Releases Name of Man Killed in I-20 Collision

Update, 5:10 p.m.: The Lexington County Coroner's Office has released the name of a 56-year-old man killed Thursday after a two-vehicle wreck on I-20.

Michael G. Fetner, of Lexington, was driving eastbound on I-20 when he slowed his vehicle for unknown reasons and was struck from behind by another vehicle at mile marker 38 in Leesville, Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman said in a release.

Fetner was transported to Lexington Medical Center in critical condition and died from his injuries Thursday night, South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly said. 

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Original, 2:41 p.m.: A Lexington man died Thursday after being rear-ended by a pickup truck while driving on Interstate 20.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly said the man, age 56, was driving a 2005 Saturn east on I-20 near mile marker 38 when he was struck in the rear by a 1999 GMC pickup.

The driver of the Saturn was wearing a seat belt, Kelly said. 

His name has not been released by the Lexington County Coroner's Office. 

The driver of the Saturn was transported to Lexington Medical Center in critical condition and died from his injuries Thursday night, Kelly said. 

The driver of the truck, identified as Quintin Taylor, 49, of Mobile, Ala, was also taken to Lexington Medical Center with minor injuries.

Taylor was wearing a seat belt.
