Lexington One Recognizes ESOL Students Who Achieved Full English Language Proficiency

The district recently held a celebration for the 57 students who performed well on the English Language Development Assessment.

Lexington County School District One held a celebration for students in the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program who reached full English language proficiency.Β

The celebration was held for 57 Lexington One students based on their performance in the English Language Development Assessment (ELDA). The ELDA consists of four tests designed to measure academic and social language proficiency in the domains of speaking, listening, reading and writing. The overall ELDA proficiency level for each student is based upon a composite score from all four tests.

The Lexington One ESOL program began serving 60 students in 1999 and currently serves more than 900 students across the district. Lexington One currently employs 25 ESOL teachers.
