Lexington One to Hold Information Sessions on Language Program

The sessions are for parents of children who will start kindergarten in the fall and who are interested in putting their children in the district's partial-immersion language program.

Lexington One is inviting parents of children starting kindergarten in the fall of 2013 to learn more about the district’s Partial-Immersion World Languages Program.

Three information sessions are planned for Jan. 14 at the District Office Auditorium located at 100 Tarrar Springs Road in Lexington. The first parent information session begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by the second at 1:30 p.m. and the third session at 6:30 p.m.

Online registration for the program begins Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. To access the online registration link, go to the World Languages and Partial Immersion page on the district's webisite.

Parents who do not have access to a computer may register at any public library or any of our immersion sites from 4 to 5 p.m. on Jan. 22. These sites are Gilbert Primary, Meadow Glen Elementary, Midway Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary and Red Bank Elementary.

Lexington One’s Partial-Immersion World Languages Program offers children the opportunity to learn a world language as they receive instruction in subjects such as mathematics and science.

Beginning in kindergarten and continuing through grade 5, students spend half of the school day in classes conducted in the world language, either Chinese/Mandarin, Spanish or French, and the other half of the school day in classes conducted in English. Once students reach middle school, they join more intensive world language and content courses.
