Lexington, White Knoll Marching Bands Compete in State Championship

The two marching bands will compete in Walterboro Saturday.

Update: TheΒ Lexington High and White Knoll marching bands both brought home Superior ratings in the Class 5A State Championship Nov. 3.Β 

Lexington High's Cat Band finished third with a score of 90.15, while White Knoll High's Timberwolf Marching Band finished fourth with a score of 89.475.

The bands were judged on two musical performances and the visual execution of those performances. Β

Original story:Β Lexington High's Cat Band and White Knoll High's Timberwolf Marching Band are heading to the Class 5A State Championship this weekend.Β 

The bands will travel to Colleton County High School in Walterboro for the competition Saturday.Β

The Timberwolf Marching Band's preliminary performance is schedule for 3 p.m., and the Cat Band's is set for 4:15 p.m.

The Lexington High School Band Booster Club will make a "Spirit Trail" along U.S. 1 and Hwy 378 to send off the Cat Band. Parents and other supporters will be lined up with pom-poms and banners when the bus rolls out of Lexington High School around 12:15 p.m.

Last year, the Cat Band brought home third place in the Class 5A Finals of the State Championship. This year, they won first place in the Class 5A White Knoll Silver Invitational and second place in the Class 5A Blythewood Tournament of Bands.Β 

The Timberwolf BandΒ was named Grand Champion of the Western Carolina University Tournament of Champions and the Blythewood Tournament of ChampionsΒ this year.Β They also wonΒ back-to-back 4A State Champion Titles for the years 2010 and 2011.
