Man Arrested for Attempted Larceny of ATM

Deputies arrested Zachary Crolley in connection with the vandalism and attempted larceny of an ATM on Platt Springs Road in West Columbia.

Deputies arrested a West Columbia man after they say he tried to pry open an ATM on Platt Springs Road.

Zachary Crolley, 18, is charged with attempted larceny, malicious injury to private property, and disorderly conduct. 

Crolley tried to pry open the First Citizens Bank ATM at 3967 Platt Springs Road on Sunday, according to the sheriff's department. Deputies arrived after receiving calls from concerned citizens who witnessed the crime.

Crolley also had several other tools, deputies said. He was just minutes away from stealing a substantial amount of money from the machine, according to a spokesperson for the bank. 

After deputies arrested Crolley, they discovered that he had seven stolen credit cards, according to the sheriff's department. He was also heavily under the influence of alcohol.
