Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Girl, 13
Deputies arrested Miguel Garcia last week on an arrest warrant charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child.

A 31-year-old man was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center last week after a teen girl told deputies he molested her more than two years ago.Β
Deputies arrested Miguel Garcia on Oct. 20 and charged him with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child.Β He is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.Β
Garcia is accused of assaulting the girl, who was 13 at the time, around 9 a.m. in July 2010 at her house in Leesville while the girl's mother was at work, according to an incident report from the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.Β

The girl told her aunt and grandmother two weeks later, according to the report. They told the girl's mother.
While her aunt and grandmother wanted to report the incident to law enforcement, the girl said her mother didn't. Instead, the victim's mother wanted a fresh start for Garcia, and offered to take the family to Carowinds, according to the report.

Garcia stayed for a few months and then left for Mexico, according to the report. The girl told deputies he later moved to Pheonix, Ariz.
The girl, who is now 15, reported the incident to a deputy on Oct. 17.Β The victim and other children in the home have been placed in protective care.
