Students, teachers and community members celebrated 100 years of school Friday.
Lexington Elementary students and teachers and community members celebrated 100 years of school Friday on the 100th day of school.Â
Kindergarteners dressed up like they were 100 years old. Students in 1st through 5th grades dressed up in clothes from different decades.
During lunch, the students listened to teachers and community members tell stories about going to school at Lexington Elementary when they were little.

One teacher told students about her mother, who used to go to Lexington High School when it was located where Lexington Elementary is today.Â
Lexington High School opened on North Lake Drive in 1912. The original school was torn down in 1988.Â

Students walked through a mini museum Friday with artifacts from school years past: cassette players, overhead projectors, filing drawers from the library that were used to check out books before computers.
The Friends of the Lexington County Museum are also celebrating the 100th anniversary of Lexington High School Saturday with a fundraiser at Lexington's Town Hall.
