Pleasant Hill Middle Teacher Wins Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year Award

Steven Woodyard was recognized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars for his efforts to promote America's history and traditions.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) selected Pleasant Hill Middle teacher Steven Woodyard as the 2012 VFW South Carolina Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year. 

VFW Post 8738 in Lexington nominated Woodyard for the state award. He will represent South Carolina in the National Citizenship Education Teacher Award competition in March.

VFW’s National Citizenship Education Teacher award recognizes the nation’s top elementary, middle and high school teachers who promote America’s history, traditions and institutions effectively.  The Citizenship Education program identifies and recognizes America’s best educators who instill a sense of national pride in students.
