Police: Drunk Man Stole Chicken Wings From Lexington Grocery Store

The man was later arrested at Dick Smith Nissan on Sunset Boulevard.

A 58-year-old man is facing a public intoxication charge after police say he went in the Publix on Old Cherokee Road while he was drunk and stole a box of chicken wings.

Police were called to Dress Barn, which is in the same shopping center as Publix, around 12:15 p.m. June 9 in reference to a suspicious person, according to a Lexington Police Department report. Before they arrived, they were told the man, later identified as Jim Robinson Hodges, had left Dress Barn and entered Publix.

When police arrived, they couldn't find Hodges in either store, according to the report. The manager at Publix told police Hodges took a box of cooked chicken wings.

A SLED officer monitoring the radio advised police that a man matching Hodges' description was in the parking lot at Dick Smith Nissan on Sunset Boulevard trying to open car doors, according to the report.

When officers found Hodges in the parking lot, they could smell alcohol on his breath, according to the report. They also said he was mumbling incoherently and couldn't stand with his feet together.
