Report: Federal Trial Delayed for Lexington Lawyer

Breibart is facing charges of extortion and fraud.

The federal trial of Richard J. Breibart, a Lexington lawyer facing extortion and fraud charges, has been pushed back, according to a report.

Breibart's trial, which was scheduled to start in July, is now set for October, according to a report in The State. The trial was pushed back because Briebart's public defender is retiring and being replaced by another. Read more from The State.

A federal grand jury returned a 10-count indictment against Breibart in September including charges of extortion and fraud. He is accused of taking more than $1 million from clients after threatening them with made-up charges.
