Report: Woman Attacks Another Woman at McDonald's Playground

Rhonda Hampton, 38, is accused of punching another woman in the face Saturday.

A Spartanburg woman is accused of repeatedly punching a 60-year-old Lexington woman in the forehead Saturday at the playground inside the Columbia Avenue McDonald's, according to a Lexington Police Department report.

Rhonda Hampton, 38, was charged with third-degree assault and battery after witnesses told police that she attacked the woman, forced her to the ground by pulling her hair and punched her in the face and head.

An arguement started between the two women around 7:30 p.m. after the victim's husband complained to McDonald's management that Hampton and a 32-year-old man who was with her were being rowdy in the playground area, according to the report.

The 32-year-old man became angry at the victim's husband for reporting the incident, according to the report. He told the victim's husband to "mind his own business" and started approaching him in a "threatening manner," according to the report. The victim's husband told him to watch his language around the children. 

When Hampton heard this, she started screaming in the victim's face, according to the report. The victim told Hampton that "she must not take good care of her children if she can act so violently."

That's when Hampton started punching the woman, according to the report. The woman stayed in the fetal position on the floor while Hampton was punching her, according to the report. She didn't punch back.

A child in the playground ran to her mother to tell her that a fight had broken out, according to the report. The mother pulled Hampton away from the victim until police arrived.

Hampton was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center.
